36-T SCH System Repair In Progress

Repairs to the flagship 36-tesla (1.5 GHz) series-connected hybrid (SCH) magnet at the NHMFL are proceeding on schedule. One of the two superconducting leads sustained damage in January of 2025.  Fabrication of a replacement lead is expected to be completed this July. Both the replacement leads and the original, undamaged lead will be tested to full current at Fermilab this August. Once testing is complete, the leads will be reinstalled at the NHMFL. Following a scheduled NHMFL DC Field operations shutdown. the magnet is expected to return to service in April 2027
