MagLab Mentor Nominations (due Nov. 1)

Dear MagLab faculty, staff, and students,

First, I hope you are all safe and healthy.

Second, I think we have all realized the value of mentors during uncertain times. To that end, the Center for Integrating Research and Learning is proud to announce the nomination process for the MagLab’s Annual Mentoring Award. By definition a mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor. We realize that mentoring relationships can take many forms and require effort and time. We would like to celebrate those mentors among us who are exemplary in their efforts to guide others on their career path, especially during this pandemic. If you know of someone who deserves this recognition, please submit a nomination and letter of support by November 1 , 2020 by copying and pasting the following link into a new browser: https://fsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3ecMxe72QFgBuYJ

Last year was the first Mentoring Award process and we had so many nominations that we actually created three categories of mentors to recognize all of our exemplary mentors. These categories are: Mentors in positions of Leadership (directors, deputy directors, assistant directors); Faculty and Staff Mentors; and Early Career Mentors (Visiting scientists, postdocs, and graduate/undergraduate students).

The 2019 winners and runners up were:
Leadership: Tim Murphy, Peter Lee
Faculty and Staff: Tom Mareci, Amy McKenna
Early Career: Theirry Dubroca, Alyssa Henderson

All MagLab employees are eligible (faculty, staff, postdocs, and students). Self-nominations will also be accepted. Each nominated mentor will be notified when they have been nominated and asked to provide a short summary (1-2 sentences) of their own motivations to mentor .

Only full submissions will be eligible.

The award winners will be announced in January of 2021. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Take care of yourselves,

Roxanne
